All About Chiropractic
As a chiropractor, a few of the more common questions I get are, "What exactly do you do?" or "How do help people feel better?" At Total Health, it's our goal to correctly diagnose the condition and use the necessary treatment to help our patients' with the symptoms of that condition. If we can't treat your condition, we can refer you to one of the many orthopedic doctors, neurologists, or geneneral practitioners with whom we have great relationships.
A chiropractor's main focus is the spine and surrounding structures. The spine is the structure in the back which houses the spinal cord. Many nerves travel in and out of the spine and it is held stable by muscles that attach to it. Often times, the things we do throughout the day can irritate or pinch the nerves in the spine and create muscle spasms that are terribly painful. It is our job to find the problem in the spine that may be pinching the nerve or generating muscle spasms.
Frequently, when a patient's back hurts, they will describe it as stiff or stuck. This happens when the normal mobility of the spine is decreased due to tight muscles or irritated nerves. We use gentle stretching and chiropractic adjustments to realign the spine. This restores normal range of motion which reduces pressure on the nerves and relieves the muscle spasms.
The doctors at Total Health have been trained to search out these problems and have the tools and knowledge necessary to relieve the symptoms of the condition. Be sure to tell family, friends, coworkers and acquaintances about the information available on our site. We enjoy assisting others in their health care needs and always strive towards excellence.
